Fredagsmys. We love this cosy Swedish concept of winding down the workweek on Friday evening with comfort food and relaxation with a close one. One or more of our team members also prefer to do the same with a book and a comforting drink. Here's that recipe.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
2 cups of almond/oat milk (or regular milk, if you prefer so)4-5 saffron strands
1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
Step-by-Step:
Infuse the Milk: Warm the milk in a saucepan over low to medium heat. Add the saffron strands and stir gently. Allow the milk to heat slowly to help the saffron release its flavour and colour. Saffron has a mildly sweet taste. We prefer to not add any sweetener and enjoy the little sweetness released by saffron and the milk. If you prefer more sweetness in your beverage, stir in honey or maple once the milk is hot but not boiling.Whisk for Froth: Use a whisk or a milk frother to create a light froth on top. This step adds a café-style touch to your latte.
Serve: Pour the saffron-infused milk into cups. Garnish with an extra saffron strand for an elegant finish. Serve immediately and enjoy the warming, fragrant flavours.
Tips:
Customise Flavour: Experiment with adding a dash of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of nutmeg, cardamom or cinnamon for variety.Saffron Soak: For a deeper flavour, soak the saffron strands in a tablespoon of warm milk for 10-15 minutes before adding them to the pan.
